Gunvault MicroVault XL MVB1000 Gun Safe Biometric Fingerprint Review

Having a secure and reliable pistol safe is one of the most important factors when purchasing a gun pack. It’s important to ensure that these are safely stored away. Gunvault has devised a cutting edge fingerprint recognition process that allows you to feel secure about storing your pistol. The biometric scanner that is embedded into this safe allows for high-speed access to your pistol. The important factor of security and safety is taken very seriously in this design and a high strength locking mechanism is also embedded in the design. This allows for maximal security with it being designed so that someone can’t break into it.

This product has a battery-powered design for maximal security and easy portability. The Biometric uses fingerprint precise recognition to open the safe contents. A mathematical algorithm is embedded into the finger recognition devise to speed up the processing of the fingerprints allowing for high-speed access to the contents inside the safe. A low false reject rate is programmed into the technology. A low false accept rate is also programmed into the smart self-learning algorithm.

The biometric fingerprint system adds to fingerprint templates so that false readings become less and less likely. The program handles up to 120 fingerprint templates.

How is the battery installed?

First, open the unit door and store the keys away (somewhere outside of the unit). Next, place the safe in an upside-down position. Next, remove the interior foam area starting from the bottom back of the unit. Locate the battery cable that has a negative and positive side guide. Plug the battery into the positive and negative guides respectively. There are hooks with battery cables that you will need to match up.

The battery cables should be placed facing the same direction as in the instruction manual to ensure there are never any malfunctioning moments for the battery.

How do I program the gun vault safe?

To program the unit, first, open the unit. You can find the button on the top of the unit in the middle of the cut out that is in the shape of a circle. You can then hold down the learn button for two seconds. The unit will make a beeping sound and the red light will flash and then stay green. This is when you can put in your chosen combination (3-6 entries of numbers). Press and hold the learn button again for two seconds.

The unit will beep once, and the light then stays red for another few minutes. During this time, re-enter the same combination you first programmed. After re-entering this, then press the learn button one more time The unit will flash in a green light five times and beep five times. At this point, you will know that your keycode has been re-programmed.

Can I program multiple users into the sensor system?

Only the bio-metric models can be enrolled for up to 30 fingerprint types. They all need to be individually programmed. The other units on the market can only be programmed for one user. Can I send the Gunvault to be repaired if needed? – Currently, there is no service for repairs. This may happen in terms of customer service in the future. For now, this service is not yet available. Most safes on the market made by Gunvault are safe, secure, and sturdy. It is highly unlikely that repairs would be required for this product.

When you are transporting the safe

The initial programming takes some figuring out and the packaging is not always well done when shipped. There is a gap in the opening where it should be sealed for safety. This gap is noticeable although not glaring. When there are questions about the safe the customer service is not at the quality that it can be and it is not always as helpful. The company has yet to put in the resources to ensure customer support is as it should be. The setup is not simple and straightforward so upon arrival, the safe needs a bit of figuring out and experimentation. Once it is set up, however, it functions as advertised.
